Instead of detoxifying, be focused on long-term sustainable health habits, such as eating foods rich in nutrients on a daily basis. Green leafy vegetables, lots of protein and foods rich of vitamin are healthier choice and tastes better than any beverage for the detoxification.
Why we feel well during the “cleaning”?
Any diet or a diet that promises us a quick solution sounds too good to be true. To achieve good health takes time and commitment, as well as for any other goal that we set in our life.
However, nothing prevents such a diet and nutrition, and their advocates from charging marketing space, promotional materials and speech on the benefits of such a diet. One type of such a diet appears every year around the same time, and that is after the holidays, and the beginning a “Diet of the year” for “cleaning the body”or “detoxification”.
What exactly is “cleaning the body”?
You can hardly find a precise definition for any of these terms for the purification of the body. It is assumed that the aim of cleansing or detoxifying, the elimination of harmful compounds and substances from the body so-called their “washing” out of the body through a combination of calorie restriction and diet consisting only of liquid. Many cleaning methods were allegedly destined for certain parts of the body, whether it is a liver cleansing, cleansing the digestive tract or the almighty “Master” detoxification.
Cleansing and detoxification often include strict restrictions on the consumption of food, usually allowing only the juice from fruits and vegetables, or other beverages. The “Master” detoxification, for example, requires the daily intake of six to twelve glasses of lemonade containing maple syrup and cayenne pepper. Apparently, such beverage will remove toxins from your body, and as per the claims of its creators, will “eliminate all types of diseases in your body”.
While there are some minor differences, that one way of detoxifying is different from other cleaning method, than it is not worth of detailed dissection and analysis, because a new species will rise very quickly and will again argue that it is a better and more effective than all previous . Simply said, cleansing and detoxifying are marketing tricks build on the story that the human body accumulates toxins as a result of exposure to pesticides, pollutants, additives, or simply due to inadequate ejection metabolic waste.
Does our body needs cleaning?
It is important to understand that the human body is very resistant. The liver, kidneys, lungs and several other organs are working on a fixed schedule to remove harmful compounds and other waste products of metabolism. They do not need any help from lemonade containing pepper. It should be noted, that there is evidence that commercial supplements that serve detoxification are not based on scientific facts. A 2009 survey showed that none of the companies behind the fifteen commercial supplements for detoxification can appoint toxins that
target their products and treatments. They even cannot agree between them self about the definition of “detoxification”, neither to show evidence that their product works.
The fact that none of the companies can not appoint a toxin that is the target of their products, reveals just how many are actually poorly effective detoxification. In order to scientifically determine the effectiveness of a particular treatment, a toxin that is being investigated should first be identified, in order to even be able to accurately measure its accumulation in someone’s body. Then, researchers would investigate the effect of drugs or supplements of certain toxin. Finally, scientists began to explore the hypothesis of why certain medications or supplements have effect of specific toxin. For example, scientists are exploring the effects of organo-chlorine pesticides, which is known to accumulate in mammals, not only they know the name of the toxins that are investigating, but have also found that its accumulation can prevent drug called Orlistat. In fact, the mechanism behind the aforementioned drug and its effect on the organo-chlorine pesticide is widely studied and known, usually, this kind of pesticide is traveling between the liver and the digestive tract. Orlistat closes toxins in the digestive tract, where it then the body removes that pesticides as well as other waste materials.
This is not to mention, because, just to prove that the human body accumulates low levels of toxins, such as heavy metals and certain compounds that are biodegradable in fat. We wanted
only to substantiate the claim that various cleaning or detoxification has no visible effect when removing or excretion of these toxins. How then to explain the visible benefits after detoxification?
New ways of detoxification often spread by word of mouth despite with the obvious absence of any positive effects on health. Detoxification includes calorie restriction, temporary weight loss only, and it is the most common result. This is a result of loss of glycogen in the liver and muscle tissue, but not the loss of adipose tissue. When the body is under caloric restriction, the body stores of glycogen can be very easily discharged to the period of 24-48 hours, resulting in the loss of several kilograms (muscle tissue and the body water that is associated with
the storing of glycogen). By the time you return to the usual diet, in this case, glycogen and waters swarm back. The temporary weight loss leads to many individuals to believe that the detoxification, they have just finished had some positive effects on their health.
Do not forget to mention – Most people eat unhealthy foods. With detoxification, we usually intake a lot of fruits and vegetables, which mean the entire suite of nutrients, what with usual food we do not get.
Instead of detoxification, be focused on long-term sustainable health habits, such as eating foods rich in nutrients on a daily basis. Green leafy vegetables, lots of protein and foods rich of vitamin are healthier choice and tastes better than any beverage for the detoxification.
